A recent report from the US Department of Agriculture said that per capita beef consumption in Argentina in 2011 was 54 kilos, putting the country in second place to neighbour Uruguay, which registered an average of 60 kilos per head for the year.

New figures from Argentina for the month of January 2012 show that Argentina’s per capita consumption for the month was 60 kilos, a 13.7% increase on the same month in 2011.

Argentina’s beef exports for the month were almost 37% down on January 2011, according to meat industry association CICCRA. It also said cattle slaughter for the month was 10% higher than a year before at 976,000 head.
