Brazilian packer firm JBS has confirmed that a fire broke out at one of its abattoirs on March 15.

The company said that the management team at its abattoir in Santana do Araguaia in the state of Pará had time to evacuate the facility when the fire broke out and there were no injuries.

It said that cattle that were due to be slaughtered at the Santana do Araguaia plant in recent days had been accommodated at other JBS abattoirs in Pará.
