Speaking in the build-up to the exhibition, Mr Aksu said: “The selection of Turkey as the focus country of this year’s fair in Hong Kong is proof that the country closely monitors the rapidly changing techniques and fashion trends in the leather industry.”
He has prepared for the exhibition a collection under the title of Future Travellers to try to show that, although the use of hides and skins in clothing is as ancient as humanity, it’s important not to separate leather from today’s technology. “While preparing these designs, I tried to create a mix of techniques reflecting both the present and the past,” he said. “My goal was to find the fine balance between the past and the future.”
Forty companies connected to the Turkish leather industry will travel to Hong Kong to take part in APLF this year.
