Uruguay tops per capita beef consumption league

13/03/2012
Uruguay is at the head of the table when it comes to global beef consumption.

Figures released by the US Department of Agriculture at the start of March indicate that in 2011, Uruguay had a per capita consumption of beef of 60 kilos, substantially ahead of its neighbours Argentina, with 54 kilos per person for the year, and Brazil with 38 kilos.

These countries were followed on the list by the US, Australia and Paraguay with figures of 38, 35 and 34 kilos per person respectively.
