Vietnam: leathergoods and footwear exports reach $1.3b

Vietnam’s total exports reached $15.3 billion during the January-February 2012 period. The share of leather footwear and products in total exports stood at $1.3 billion, according to data released by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.

 

The breakdown showed that Vietnam exported leather footwear worth $1 billion and handbags, wallets, suitcases and umbrellas worth $214 million during January-February 2012. In February 2012, it exported $500 million worth of footwear compared to $544 million in Jan 2012, reflecting a fall of 8% in footwear exports

 

It may be mentioned here that Vietnam’s total export reached $96.3 billion during January-December 2011 period, while the share of leather footwear and products in total exports stood at $7.8 billion.
