The chairman and chief executive of LVMH, France-born Bernard Arnault, is the fourth richest person in the world, according to the 2012 Forbes Billionaire List.

The media company valued Mr Arnault at a net worth of $41 billion in 2012, the same as in 2011 and 2010. It described him as “the richest person in France and 65th-most powerful person in the world”.

LVMH recorded a 16% increase in revenue in 2011, reaching EUR 23.7 billion, thanks to record sales at Louis Vuitton and the successful integration of Bulgari, and the group formed a joint venture with crocodile leather tannery, Heng Long.

Among Mr Arnault’s personal high-end collection are Indigo Island in the Bahamas (which has a rental price of $300,000 a week) and ski chalet Cheval Blanc in Courchevel.
