Leathergoods maker takes on former lingerie factory employees
06/03/2012
Lingerie company Lejaby closed down its operation in the town at the end of 2011, but leathergoods manufacturer Sofama, a supplier to Louis Vuitton, has taken on the factory and most of the workforce. All 93 Lejaby employees, 90 of whom were women, were offered jobs by Sofama. Eleven wanted to retire or move away, but the other 82 have now begin a six-to-nine-month training programme in leathergoods production.
Sofama secured state-help to fund the training programme and also for new equipment for the Yssingeaux facility.
