CICB predicts export growth for Brazilian leather

29/02/2012
Brazil's tanners exported finished and semi-finished leather with a value of $139.6 million during the month of January. In terms of volume, exports were of 27,400 tonnes of leather for the month.

Compared to January 2011, the value of these exports is down by 1%, and by 13% compared to the previous month, December 2011. Nevertheless, the Brazilian Tanners' Association (CICB) has reacted by saying it remains hopeful for the industry in the year ahead, predicting growth in export income of between 5% and 10%.

If its prediction comes true, it would mean export revenues of around $2.2 billion for the year.
