The Ethiopian Leather Industries Association has said that Ethiopia will host the all African Leather Fair 2012. The fair aims to promote the leather and leather products sector allowing industry stakeholders to network and attract international investment to meet the national developmental goals, according to Solomon Getu, chairman of the ELIA Board and managing director of the Crystal Tannery.

More than 200 domestic and international firms operating in the sector and visitors from an estimated 40 countries are expected to take part in the fair. An investment forum will also be organised by UNIDO through which three international shoe manufacturers, from Italy and Germany, will get a chance to share their experiences.

An estimated 11,000 visitors attended the 4th All African Leather Fair in 2011 and at least 12,000 are expected to visit this one.
