21/02/2012
Italian luxury leathergoods brand Bottega Veneta has issued a statement giving details of its 2011 results. The brand, most famous for its high-end, label-free handbags demonstrating its trademark “intrecciato” leather weaving technique, Bottega Veneta achieved sales for the year of EUR 682.6 million, an increase of 33.7% compared to 2010.

Profits were up by 57.1% compared to the year before, reaching EUR 204.6 million. Chief executive, Marco Bizzarri, called the results excellent.

The Financial Times pointed out that Bottega Veneta’s figures were included in the 2011 results that its parent group, PPR, issued in mid-February, EUR 12.2 billion. It said it was unusual for the Vicenza-based brand to issue separate results announcements and concluded that it was a reflection of statisfaction in PPR at Bottega Veneta’s results. Another indication is that Marco Bizzarri has been elected onto the PPR board.
