China’s ministry of environmental protection is currently carrying out a series of inspections in tanneries there, the China Leather Industry Association has reported.

Initial results show that 14 tanneries have passed the inspection so far. The ministry has made the names of the tanneries public and has invited comment from the public in case there are any objections to the positive outcomes for each of these businesses. Interested parties will have until February 21 to give any reaction to the news.

The tanneries include Shi Sheng Leather Products in Tianjin, Xuanhua Leather Company in Hebei, Chifeng Sheep Tannery in Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang Jinxin Leather Company, and Fengan Leather in Jinjiang City.
