Trends point to good news for ostrich tanners

In a presentation on trends to help tanners prepare leather for that season, Ms Vuillermet said: “Ostrich is very fashionable. Collections in the coming seasons are going to have lots of ostrich.”
She said she is normally less than keen on ostrich leather as she finds it “aggressive”, however combined with a general trend for softer tones and colours for spring-summer 2013, she thinks it can work well.
“It will be in fashion, as fashion brands are asking for lots of ostrich samples at the moment,” she added. “Ostrich went down when other exotic leather was very fashionable in recent seasons, but it looks as though ostrich is coming back.”
