14/02/2012

The chairman of the Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA), S.M. Naseem, has expressed his concern in a press statement about the affairs of National Institute of Leather Technology (NILT), which is located in the Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi.

He pointed out that NILT is presently in financial turmoil, and as a result all the educational activities in the institute have been suffering. A proposal for a grant of $2.2 million is pending for the approval to be made by the Export Development Fund.

The matter for the financial stringencies was discussed by the PTA’s delegation during its meeting with officials of TDAP, who assured to take up this matter with the Ministry of Commerce.

Mr Naseem has strongly appealed to the government to provide all maximum possible incentives to approve the demanded funding for the NILT to be able to run its affairs.
