Cattle movement banned for 30 days in Paraguay

02/02/2012
Animal health authorities in Paraguay have imposed a ban on the movement of all cattle for 30 days while they carry out a vaccination programme to help prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease (FMD).

Vaccinations will begin on February 10. The measures are the result of outbreaks of FMD, starting with one in the department of San Pedro, close to the border with Brazil, in September 2011.
