Re-design gives Kymo a new class of leather

Specialist Karlsruhe-based flooring materials supplier Kymo introduced changes to its Rare Soul Premium and Body & Soul leather flooring ranges at the 2012 IMM furniture exhibition in Cologne in January.

Using leather made from high-quality French bovine hides, Kymo said its re-design of the products, each available in five different sizes of flooring tiles and in five different colours resulted in “a new class of leather”.

Company spokesperson, Friedrich Bender, later told leatherbiz that stitching has contributed substantially to the new look.

“It is new because we have changed the design of the edges and the stitching,” he said. “We decided not to use the thick kind of leather binding anymore, and instead of double-stitching we are now using zig-zag stitching. This makes the whole design more contemporary and more minimalist in our opinion.”
