German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has launched a new fashion collection in conjunction with UK-based web retailer Net-a-Porter.

The line is being marketed as an ‘accessible’ range for women, with items ranging in price from £20 to £980 for a leather jacket. Net-a-Porter has a one-month exclusivity deal before the collection is offered on Karl Lagerfeld-branded sites.

Retail analysts say the move is part of a growing trend of designers using the web to refresh their image.

The collection consists of 70 pieces, from draped jersey dresses to monochrome T-shirts and leather jackets,
