Argentina confirms low slaughter for January-November 2011

Official statistics put Argentina’s cattle slaughter for the first eleven months of 2011 at 9.8 million head, a fall of 11% compared to the same period the year before.

Industry statistics suggest that in the first half of 2011, Argentina registered the lowest slaughter numbers in 22 years. Around 100 abattoirs have closed down since 2010 reflecting lower numbers of cattle passing through.
