Mulberry founder becomes ambassador for Somerset

16/01/2012
Mulberry founder Roger Saul is to become an ambassador for Somerset, the part of England where the luxury leathergoods brand has its roots.

Somerset authorities hope Mr Saul can encourage investment in the area. As well as founding Mulberry in the village of Chilcompton, he has worked to encourage organic food production in the region and helped launch the Designer Emporium at Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet in mid-2011. Already the home of the Mulberry Factory Shop, the Kilver Court regeneration is a designer brand outlet village with gardens, top-quality food facilities, entertainment and facilities for weddings and conferences.

“Somerset is one of the most magical counties in England,” Mr Saul said at the time of the announcement. “I have created many different types of business here that have all been people-related and there couldn’t be a better location in which to work and live. I am delighted to support Into Somerset’s great endeavour to encourage other businesses into the area and am honoured to be an ambassador for the cause.”
