India releases leather export values for first eight months

Indian leather exports during the first eight months of the current financial year (April-November 2011) increased in value by 3.9% to $2.4 billion from $2.3 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Exports of finished leather were up by 2.2% to $513.5 million from $502.6 million, leather footwear by 3.5% to $919.9 million from $888.9 million, leather garments by 7.9% to $274.3 million from $254.3 million and leathergoods by 7.3% to $546.3 million from $509.1 million.

Exports of footwear components fell by 3.7% to $153.2 million from $159.2 million over the same period.
