Italian leather chemicals supplier folds

06/01/2012
Reports from Italy say a chemical manufacturer, whose products included leather chemicals for the tanning industry, went into liquidation at the end of 2011.

Gruppo Dalton, based in Limbiate, 15 kilometres north of Milan, was a supplier of products including unhairing agents, chromium sulphate, and powder and liquid syntans, announced at the end of October that it was looking for a buyer for the company.

Unions say workers were expecting activity to continue for 13 weeks after the October announcement, but the company's management team announced the closure just before Christmas.
