Fire at Solofra tannery

06/01/2012
Emergency services were called to a tannery in Solofra in southern Italy on January 5 after fire broke out.

Local media said the fire started around midday in a building occupied by RAN Pel in Via Consolazione in the town's tanning cluster, with a fault in one of the tanning machines cited as a possible cause.

Tannery workers had to evacuate the building and it took firefighters an estimated two hours to bring the fire under control.
