PTA raises concerns over water supply to Korangi

PTA chairman, Khurshid Ahmed, has said that most of the wells in the area, which have been a major source of water for the tanneries, have dried up. “A drought-like situation prevails in the leather industry in Korangi,” he told local media recently.
According to the PTA, the authorities in Sindh have repeatedly failed to fulfil promises to put in a regular mains supply of water to the tanning zone in sector 7A of the Korangi Industrial Area, which houses the biggest cluster of tanneries in Pakistan.
