China: value of leather production up by more than 25%

The leather produced by China’s 1,800 tanneries in the first ten months of 2011 had a value of $1.96 billion. This represents an increase of 26.6% on the value of the country’s leather output in the first ten months of 2010.
In terms of volume, the tanneries produced 560 million square-metres of leather, 11.3% more than a year ago.
