Australia: highest monthly beef export volumes for three years

06/12/2011
Exports of beef and veal from Australia in November 2011 reached a volume of 89,747 tonnes, according to government sources.

This represents the highest monthly volume of meat exports for the bovine sector in Australia since October 2008. The government has attributed the high volume to good availability of meat at the start of the month, a weaker Australian dollar and particularly good levels of trade with Japan and the US.

November’s figure takes the volume of beef-sector exports for the first 11 months of 2011 to 867,140 tonnes, 3% higher than for the same period in 2010.
