Bangladesh: prime minister hands out export awards

Bangladesh's six top leather manufacturers and exporters of finished leather and leathergoods received National Export awards from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a function on November 30.

SAF Industries, Dhaka, received a gold medal and trophy for achieving exports of finished leather and leathergoods with a value of $20.5 million in financial year 2009-10.

Similarly, Bay Tanneries, Dhaka, received a silver medal and trophy for exports valued at $11.25 million; Picard Bangladesh also received a silver medal and trophy for leathergoods exports with a value of $9.1 million, as did Leatherex Footwear Industries for footwear exports worth just over $3 million.

Two companies received bronze medal: Apex Tannery, Dhaka, for exports worth $22.9 million and FB Footwear, Dhaka, for footwear exports worth $4.5 million.
