S Korea to help Ethiopian leather industry
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has said the country will help Ethiopia develop its textile and leather industry through sharing South Korea’s development experience and knowledge, according to the presidential office.
The agreement came at a summit on 28 November with Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, who is visiting Seoul. His four-day trip also includes his attendance at a major international conference on official development assistance in the southern port city of Busan.
The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding on industrial cooperation. It was the second summit between the leaders after one held in July when President Myung-bak visited the African nation.
Mr Zenawi said Ethiopia considers South Korea as an important model for its economic development plan, and expressed hope for greater cooperation in nurturing the country’s textile and leather industry and establishing a complex of related factories.
