Brazilian beef exports increase in value as volume drops

Brazil’s ministry for industrial development and overseas trade has put the value of the country’s beef exports for the month of October at $393.4 million. Brazilian packers exported 74,700 tonnes of beef in the course of the month.

The accumulated value for the first ten months of the year is close to $3.5 billion, an increase of 5.1% on the first ten months of 2010 and of 41.5% on the same period in 2009. However, volumes have fallen.

Brazil exported 684,600 tonnes of beef from January-October 2011, a fall of 18.3% compared to the same months in 2010 and of 11% compared to 2009.
