Pakistan: leather exports up 21.9% in October
Pakistan’s leather sector exports went up by 21.9% during the month of October 2011 to $87.9 million from $72.1 million in September 2011, but fell by 2.15% when compared with October 2010 ($89.9 million), according to data released by Federal Bureau of Statistics, Government of Pakistan.
The breakdown shows that during October 2011, the country exported finished leather
worth $37.2 million, leathergoods worth $43.8 million and footwear worth $6.9 million compared to $28.7 million, $36.9 million and $6.5 million respectively in the previous month.
Pakistan’s total exports for the leather sector during the first four months of the current financial year (July-October 2011-12) are up by 1.1% to $370.1 million from $366 million in the same period last year.
