Sudan will continue to export high numbers of cattle

The authorities in Sudan have put the number of hides exported from the east African country in the first nine months of 2011 at “a little over three million”.

Acknowledged to have Africa’s livestock population until South Sudan became independent in July, the country also exported two million head of live cattle over the January-September period.

Commenting on the figures, the animal resources minister, Faisal Hassan, told local media he was confident Sudan could increase cattle exports to three million head in 2012.
