Washington tannery closes its doors

16/11/2011
As is well known in the industry, there are few remaining working tanneries in the west of the US. As of October 31, there are now even fewer.

Centralia Fur and Hide, a company that makes deer, elk and moose leather for specialist applications in Native American artifacts, has closed its Quil Ceda tannery in Marysville, Washington. It will still produce leather and finished products at its main tannery in the town of Centralia.

A taxidermist business close to the site of the Marysville tannery will continue to collect raw material from Native American communities who live there for delivery to Centralia.
