BASF celebrates 25 years of leather partnerships in India

The Leather Chemicals division of BASF in India has held a special event for its distributors to commemorate 25 years of successful partnership. The event held in Mumbai in November was attended by six of BASF’s distributors, including IndChem Group, Rajesh Corporation, Diamond Chemicals, BrightChem Ltd., Bajaj Chemicals and MNK & Company.

“The last 25 years have been quite eventful for BASF’s Leather Chemicals in India,” said Prasad Chandran, chairman of BASF in India. “Our long-standing and successful association with our distributors shows our mutual commitment to take the leather chemicals business to a far higher level.”

For his part the company’s vice-president for global business management, Thomas Sattler, said: “The leather chemicals business at BASF has faced several uncertainties in the past. But with unwavering support from our distributors, we have sustained growth even in a difficult environment.”

Also speaking at the event, Andrea Ceretta, business director of BASF leather chemicals in South Asia said: “With growing pressure from customers and global competition, our distributors expect more in terms of performance and environmental protection. We are conscious of our responsibility and are taking proactive steps to recommend solutions that target their needs.”
