Stahl puts Indian focus on IILF exhibits

Visitors to the Stahl stand will be able to see leathers that meet the needs of the rapidly growing domestic fashion scene in India as well as looking towards export markets.
“Calm, soft, quiet colours will reflect waking up in the early morning,” Stahl says. “Lunch-time brings bright and warm colours, the colours of the working day, full of life, intensity and energy. Arriving home for tea, colours take on a mix of the British and Japanese with geisha, tea leaves and water, mystics and spiritual tones, the shadows of early evening. Finally it is party time with shadowy coloured shades of the moon and the bright lights of the world of entertainment.”
Fashion is at the heart of the display. With input from Stahl’s fashion and design studios in Italy, the leathers will all be made in Stahl’s laboratories in India by Indian technicians using products available in India. Most of the products used in processing and finishing will have been manufactured at the company’s new factory in Ranipet in Tamil Nadu.
The leathers will step back from traditional finishes to feature waxed, oiled, tumbled leathers with subtle two-tone and gloss finishes. Natural very high gloss vegetable and tumbled leathers will also feature strongly, as will white waxy, repolishable “reactive” leathers. “Upgrading is the key theme, without sacrificing physical properties,” the Dutch specialty chemicals manufacturer has said.
