Big Australian cattle company reports healthy profit

02/11/2011
One of Australia's biggest cattle companies, S Kidman and Company, has reported a strong performance for its most recent financial year, $19.75 million after tax.

Kidman runs 18 livestock farms covering a total of 110,000 square-kilometres in three Australian states, plus a feedlot in the Barossa Valley. It has a herd size of 200,000 head of cattle. The company said it had experienced excellent seasonal conditions across the 18 properties, helping it to overcome the effects of a high value of the Australian dollar.

It pointed out that some of the profit had come from the sale of land.
