Positive results for Indian firms at European autumn fairs

A total of 37 Indian firms took part in the September 2011 edition of Mipel in Milan, taking orders valued at more than $650,000 back to India, plus an estimated $2.5 million in orders they expect to come in as a result of meeting more than 400 potential customers at the event.
Only six Indian footwear brands took part in Global Shoes in Dusseldorf in September, but collectively they held 100 business meetings and carried out business valued at EUR 290,000 at the exhibition, with an estimated EUR 1.56 million to follow.
Similarly, 10 Indian companies were present at Micam in Milan this September. They held a total of 117 business meetings with buyers and transacted business worth almost $500,000, with future business anticipated at $1.6 million.
CLE said India's footwear exports to the European Union have grown from $798.1 million in 2005-06 to close to $1.4 billion in the last complete financial year, 2010-11. This represents growth of 11.4% over that time.
