Minerva more than doubles cattle in feedlots

04/10/2011
Brazilian packer and tanning group Minerva has confirmed that it has more than doubled the number of cattle it has placed in feedlots in 2011 compared to last year.

It said it had taken this step to compensate for the limited offer of heavy cattle going to slaughter during the dry season.

Minerva raised around 35,000 head of cattle in its three feedlots in 2010, but so far in 2011, it estimates that the three facilities have admitted between 80,000 and 85,000 head.

The three feedlots are in Araguaína, in the state of Tocantins,  Rolim Moura in Rondônia and Asunción in Paraguay.
