The company said the latest colour predictions offer a timely reminder that leather, woollens, cottons, linens, silks and others all play a complementary role in the fashion scene. They also look back to the days when the time of day was important, especially in “big houses”. Breakfast, morning, afternoon, work, sport and evening all called for a change of clothes, a scenario which still has its elegant echoes in today’s fashion world, according to Stahl.
Calming gentle pastels are happy alongside vivid and lively brights, the company said on issuing the new brochure and poster. Waking from dreams calls for calm and for soft, quiet, cool colours in the early morning, it continued, with pastels form the heart of the spectrum, providing sweetness and serenity.
Move on to lunch-time and the colours are bright and warm, flooding the scene with purity, strength and optimism. These are the colours of the working day in the urban environment, full of life, intensity and energy, it said.
At tea-time colours take on a new role, a new mix of British and Japanese influence. This is a time to pause and relax, and perhaps to reflect on times past. What is the new influence? It is an inspiration of Japanese geisha, tea leaves and water, mystics and spiritual tones, of shadows that precede the evening.
Night is lit by the shadow-coloured shades of the moon and by the bright lights of the world of entertainment. Dark colours are lit by reverberating bright colours from across the spectrum.
