Argentina: beef prices recover in export markets

Beef exports for August 2011 were up 18.6% on the previous month, reaching 13,700 tonnes and bringing in $114.7 million in export revenues. The volume in August 2010 was 20.8% higher. However, industry experts in Argentina have said that prices on the global meat market have recovered in the last 12 months and beef from Argentina was 29.1% more expensive in export markets in August 2011 compared to a year ago.
This means that the lower volume this August still brought in more revenue, 2.3% more than August 2010.
