The concept for the potential replacement of the Land Rover Defender, the DC100 Sport was a hit at the show. The vehicle had a bright yellow body with short windscreen and a leather interior from BoW in Lunar Grey and Yellow.
Volvo had a vehicle called Concept You on display, a sleek coupé-like saloon, which featured soft nappa in off-black leather on the front seats and soft-beige in the rear seats.
For its part, German automotive group Daimler showed off a car called the Mercedes-Benz Viano, described as “a yacht on wheels” because of its modern sporting yacht inspiration. It has used a polished aniline Bridge of Weir leather in grey and blue. In addition, the new drop-top Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster was launched at the show, using a heavy mill waxy leather from BoW, with a natural feel, in a shade called Landscape Brown.
Bridge of Weir Leather is also a supplier to luxury car brand Aston Martin and the company’s leather was on display in the full range Aston Martin took to Frankfurt this year, including the One-77 supercar, the new DBS Carbon Edition, the Rapide, the Virage and the luxury city car, the Cygnet.
At the end of the Frankfurt show, Jamie Davidson, sales director for BoW, said: “After working hard to develop our Low Carbon Leather products for our customers, we are delighted with the cars showing our leather at the show. From staple browns and blues to on-trend yellows and reds, our customers are grasping how working with us to develop their product is most effective and can achieve stunning results that complete each unique car design.”
To keep inspiring car interior designers, Bridge of Weir Leather produces a ‘trends’ file for the forthcoming year. After visits to trade fairs, fashion shows and design events, Bridge of Weir designer Susan Ross develops a presentation covering colours, textures and overall finishes, which the company says helps it offer a bespoke design service to customers looking to “push the boundaries”.
