China: CLIA says leather garment exports are down

Leather garment exports from China have reported a year on year decline of 18.5% in pieces and 17.2% in value for the first seven months, according to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).

 

The exported volume was 7.81 million pieces with value of $370 million. For the same period of previous year the leather garment export registered a growth 17.9% in pieces and 26.1% in value.

 

However the import of the same products posted an increase of 94.7% to 120,000 pieces and 98.1% rising to $43.11 million, 49 percentage points higher than previous year in pieces and 50.7 percentage points higher in value.
