Luxury goods group LVMH has announced that Jordi Constans is to join Louis Vuitton from consumer goods group Danone. Throughout 2012, Mr Constans will familiarise himself with the LVMH Group, focusing especially on leathergoods brand Louis Vuitton, and will succeed the brand’s chief executive, Yves Carcelle, at the end of this process.

Yves Carcelle became chief executive of Louis Vuitton in 1990. On stepping down, he will become president of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, which is currently under construction to a design by celebrated architect Frank Gehry, and which will open at the beginning of 2013. Mr Carcelle will remain a member of the LVMH executive committee.

Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive of LVMH, said on announcing the appointment: “I am delighted that Jordi Constans is joining the group. Initially, he will have the privilege of working with Yves Carcelle, who has led Louis Vuitton with remarkable success since 1990. I wish him the very best for the future success of this iconic brand within the LVMH Group.”
