There will be a special space dedicated to those time-honoured leathergoods brands that started out in the trade fair circuit before becoming legends.”
Famous brands featuring in this special area included Cocinelle, Delsey, I Santi and Mandarina Duck. Another special feature was a historical exhibition looking back over Mipel highlights through the years.
Aimpes said Italian leathergoods exports increased by 25.7% in the first four-months of 2011 to an overall value of EUR 1.2 billion. Exports to the US were up by 43.7% compared to the same period last year, while shipments to Hong Kong were 52% higher.
Mipel general manager, Mauro Muzzolon, commented: “Italy is and always will be the leading country in the production of leather bags and accessories thanks to the quality, design and craftsmanship of its designs and the sum of all of this is Mipel.”
