Record value of beef exports for the US in July

July was a strong month for US beef exports achieving record values of more than $513 million, the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) has reported. The organisation believes total export value for the year will be above $5 billion.

USMEF chief executive, Philip Seng, has said the export value per head slaughtered in July was encouraging, reaching nearly $237 for fed steers and heifers.

Mr Seng said 16% of total beef production was exported in July.

Some individual markets also stood out in July, including a new beef export value record to Canada of more than $131 million.
