Tannery of the Year: one week to go

The announcement will be made at a Gala Dinner on the evening of the first day of the 2011 All China Leather Exhibition in the Grand Ballroom of the world-renowned Jumeriah Himalayas Hotel, across the road from the Pudong Exhibition Centre. It promises to be a glittering occasion and the highlight of the year for the global leather industry.
Ten tanneries, representing China, the rest of Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe, have received visits from the editorial team of World Leather and have had detailed profiles outlining their commitment to corporate social responsibility (to their workers, suppliers, partners, neighbours, governments, customers and the environment) published in the magazine in the course of the last year.
All ten reports, along with an up-to-date statistical analysis of eleven important leather-producing countries around the world, appear in a special Tannery of the Year Book, which will be available from the World Leather stand ( Hall E6, stand C30b) at the All China Leather Exhibition, as well as at the Gala Dinner.
All ten finalists will make presentations on the afternoon of September 6 to a distinguished panel of independent judges. The judges will choose a Tannery of the Year for each of the five regions and, from those regional winners, a new global Tannery of the Year to succeed the Ethiopia Tannery Share Company, our inaugural winner in 2010.

- Hulshof Royal Dutch Tanneries, Lichtenvoorde, the Netherlands - Europe
- Nakara, Namibia - Africa
- PT Budi Makmur Jayamurni, Yogyakarta, Indonesia - Asia excluding China
- TehChang Leather Products Co Ltd, Ta Yuan, Taiwan - Asia excluding China
- Xing Ye Leather Technology Company, Fujian Province - China.
