Positive early trend for leather in Pakistan

Pakistan’s leather sector exports grew by 5.4% during the first month of current financial year, July. Value reached just over $104 million compared to $98.7 million in July 2010. Compared to June 2011, the figure represents growth of nearly 6.8%.

During July 2011, Pakistan exported finished leather worth just over $39 million, leathergoods worth $53.9 and leather footwear worth $11.1 million. The figure for finished leather is 5.6% down on June 2011, but the numbers for leathergoods and leather footwear are up by 15.7% and 2.6% respectively.
