Porsche creates luxury luggage from automotive leather

German automotive maker Porsche has launched a new line of apparel and accessories made from materials used in its sports cars.

The new Porsche 917 collection includes items ranging from luggage to a mouse pad, all under the umbrella of the Porsche ‘Design Driver’s Selection’.

Among the new items is a mousepad and organiser portfolio, both made from the same leather used in Porsche’s vehicle interiors.

Another addition is the PTS luggage line, which is fashioned from the same cloth used in the Porsche 911 and Boxster convertible tops, with the accents made from seatbelt webbing and door pull webbing from the 911 GT3, Boxster Spyder and Cayman R models.

Porsche has also added a new suitcase made specifically for children, covered in a Porsche 911 Turbo print and featuring wheels that light up when it is pulled along. The lights are powered by energy from the movement of the luggage and require no batteries.

The items are currently on display at the Monterey Classic Car week, California, which culminates with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 21.
