Programme announced for World Leather Congress

The opening session will feature a welcome address and introduction from Wolfgang Goerlich, president of the international council of tanners and of the Brazilian tanners’ association, CICB. Augusto Sampaio, president of the CICB board of directors will add his welcome. A speech from Mauricio Borges, president of the host country’s export promotions agency, Apex Brazil, will follow.
In the course of the day, there will be sessions covering the current state and the future of the world cattle and meat industry, the global footwear market, the tanning sector, automotive leather, the leather industry and the environment, new challenges in international trade, and leather in the high fashion and luxury sector.
Speakers on these subjects will include Madam Zhang Shu Hua, president of the China Leather Industry Association, Rafeeque Ahmed, president of the Indian Council for Leather Exports, Albert Roselló, president of European leather industry representative body COTANCE, Richard Pai, president of the Taiwanese Leather Industry Association, Mwinyikione Mwinyihija, president of the Leather Development Council of Kenya, Bulent Hazer, past-president of the International Council of Tanners.
Senior representatives of leather chemical suppliers–Elton Hurlow of Buckman, Dietrich Tegtmeyer of Lanxess and Mike Tomkin of Stahl–will also take part, as will senior management team representatives of a wide range of leading tanneries from around the world.
