Pakistan: investment board plans China conference

The chairman of Pakistan’s Board of Investment (BOI), Saleem H. Mandviwalla, has announced that the BOI, in collaboration with the Federation if Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) will hold a trade and investment conference in China in September 2011.

 

During a meeting in Islamabad with the chairman of Standing Committee of the FPCCI on 10 August, Mr Mandviwalla said that the conference would reflects the views of a vast business community.

 

It is being organised for businessmen seeking investment opportunities in leather and leathergoods, textiles, power, construction and infrastructure, as well as a number of other sectors.

 

Mr Mandviwalla praised the amplification in bilateral trade over the past few years but said that it was far below the real potential and the government needs to formulate an effective strategy to address concerns of foreign traders and investors if it wants to bring about a paradigm shift in attracting businesses to Pakistan.

 

He further elaborated that the event would provide an excellent opportunity for businessmen and investors to interact with each other and get first-hand information on joint venture business and investment opportunities in various sectors of the economy.
