Portugal: shoe exports up almost 20%

According to the data released by the Portugal Bureau of Statistics, the country’s footwear exports are up by 19.8% in the first five months of the year. Shoes made in Portugal have been exported to 132 countries, and exports are expected to make more than EUR850 million by the end of 2011.

 

Shoes are widely sold to countries in Europe as well as Russia, the Americas, Japan and Canada. Portugal imports shoes from Spain, China and Italy. According to the China Leather Industry Association, Portugal’s imports from China saw an increase of 47.6% to 24.7 million pairs, making China the fastest growth country in shoes imported.
