Pakistan leathergoods exports up 17.8%

Pakistan’s exports of leathergoods increased by 17.8% during the fiscal year 2010-11 over the last year, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).

 

Leather exports stood at $540.4 million in 2010-11 against the exports of $458.6 million in 2009-10. Among leather products, exports of leather garments increased from $342.7 million to $405.8 million, showing an increase of 18.4%.

 

Exports of leather gloves increased by 16.7%, growing from $102 million to $118.9 million. Exports of other leather products also increased by 11.8%, from $14.1 million to $15.7 million, the FBS figures revealed. Exports of footwear increased by 17.3%, from $92.8 million to $108.8 million.

 

Exports of finished leather also surged by 21.4%, from $341.8 million to $462.4 million.

 

Among the footwear products, the exports of leather footwear increased 21.2%, canvas footwear by 49.9% while the exports of other footwear increased by 6% during the year under review.
