According to statistics released by Fujian Bureau of Inspection and Quarantine, $70.6 million of raw hides in Jinjiang city, China, were imported during the first five months, marking an increase of 171.6%.

At the same time imports in Shishi city were $18.2 million, up 156% year on year. Most of these hides were imported from the Americas and Australia.

The statistics also show that exports of shoes from Jinjiang city rose by 26.2% to $830 million for the first five months.
